MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT
I am honored to have been selected as the President of the Ohio GFOA. Having been a both a Trustee and a member, I have seen the growth of the organization over the past 20 years. The primary goal of the organization is to provide educational opportunities to the financial professionals in all of the governmental entities. This is accomplished by our interaction with the State Auditor, State Treasurer and other State agencies. The organization also benefits from our association with the National GFOA, financial institutions and other non-governmental concerns.
With the help of our Board of Trustees and Education Committee, it is my goal to continue the educational opportunities extended to our members and to encourage non-members to recognize the value of membership in our organization.
The changes in the retirement system have brought about the retirement of many of the financial professionals who were the backbone of this organization. With the help of our current members recruiting the replacements for these retired professionals, it is my hope that we will bring those new financial officers into our organization.
I am looking forward to working with the Board of Trustees and hope to see everyone at the 2014 Annual Conference and Membership Meeting at Kalahari in Sandusky, Ohio from September 17-19, 2014.
